A pedal type flip-up trash can includes a body assembly having an opening; a lid on left and right sides of the opening, wherein a hinge point between the lid and the body assembly is located in a middle rear part of the lid; and a transmission assembly for controlling the opening. The transmission assembly includes a pedal hinged at the bottom of the body assembly; a first rod, movably arranged in a first movable groove at the pedal; a second rod, connected to the first rod through a movable portion, and the first rod is movably arranged in a second movable groove on the movable portion; a block provided with gear teeth and arranged at the second rod; and a gear rotatably arranged in the body assembly, with the side being clamped with the lid, and a clamping point between the gear and the lid is the hinge point.
