An axial flux stator core () and a manufacturing thereof is proposed. The axial flux stator core () has a spirally layered structure (), wherein the axial flux stator core () comprises a metal strip () having a longitudinal first side () and a longitudinal second side () and that is wound to form the spirally layered structure (). The first side () of the metal strip () has a plurality of slots () having a slot width that vary along the metal strip (), the first side () forms a plurality of stator teeth (), the slots () define a tooth separation between each pair of neighboring stator teeth (), and the second side () forms an annular stator yoke () connecting the stator teeth ().
