Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for learning mixed data for approximate queries. The apparatus receives mixed data including relational data about information for identifying an object and spatiotemporal data about the trajectory of the object moving in a target space, discretizes the relational data and the spatiotemporal data based on a level of detail that is preset for each designated area of the target space corresponding to the trajectory of the object, and generates a mixed learning model that learns the relational data and the spatiotemporal data for each level of detail using multiple relational models and spatiotemporal models.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for recognizing a pointing gesture with coordinated eye gaze. The apparatus detects hand and face region images of a subject from a video input from a camera, extracts and encodes visual features of the hand and face region images, generates a visual fusion feature, in which a pointing gesture with or without coordinated eye gaze is classified, from the visual features of the hand and face region images, and learns a pointing gesture with coordinated eye gaze from the visual fusion feature by using a cross-entropy loss function.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for beam searching using an active reconfigurable intelligent surface in wireless communication systems. An Active Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (Active RIS) operating method includes: receiving a control command for beam searching from a base station; determining a target RIS beam area according to the control command; setting differential amplification gain for each beam in the target area; processing a search signal received from the base station according to the set differential amplification gain and transmitting to a corresponding beam area; receiving measurement results from the base station; analyzing the measurement results to estimate terminal position and setting a next search target area when additional searching is needed; and relaying communication signals through an RIS beam corresponding to the estimated terminal position. The differential amplification gain includes basic reference gain and differential contrast gain, enabling efficient beam searching with reduced sweeping cycles.

A method of a base station may comprise: configuring an allocation time, a hopping pattern period, and a beam hopping scheduling interval; generating a hopping pattern by allocating beams to N×M hopping slots according to scheduling information collected from a plurality of terminals based on a number M of simultaneously transmittable beams, a number N of hopping rounds within the hopping pattern period, a basic allocation power, and the allocation time; and transmitting information on the hopping pattern to a terminal, wherein the hopping pattern period is an integer multiple of the allocation time, the beam hopping scheduling interval is an integer multiple of the hopping pattern period, and M and N are positive integers.

In typical image encoding/decoding methods, a decoder-side motion information derivation method may be limitedly used. Therefore, the improvement of encoding efficiency attributable to the decoder-side motion information derivation method may also be limited. In embodiments, a motion information search method used in an inter-prediction mode, an intra block copy mode and an intra template matching prediction mode is disclosed. With the use of various motion search methods, encoding efficiency may be improved.
