The invention relates to a satellite comprising: a satellite body including at least one radiative surface configured to emit satellite heat to space; and an attitude determination and control ‘ADCS’ system for controlling an orientation of the satellite travelling in orbit around Earth, wherein the ADCS system is configured to change the orientation of the satellite with respect to the sun between a first position in which the radiative surface points away from the sun and a second position in which the radiative surface is exposed to the sun. The invention further relates to a method of controlling thermal radiation heat transfer of a satellite.

A method of monitoring the stored volume of a fluid in a storage container having a lid resting on the surface of the fluid stored, the method comprising: receiving a plurality of sets of image data collected by one or more satellites in orbit around the Earth, wherein each set of image data corresponds to a respective synthetic aperture radar image of an area on Earth that includes the storage container; grouping the plurality of sets of image data into one or more groups based on one or both of the direction of travel and/or the look direction of the respective satellite that collected the set of image data; and for each of the one or more groups: geometrically aligning at least two of the sets of image data within the group to define a stack of aligned image data; identifying. in the stack of aligned image data a feature corresponding to a point on the bottom edge of the storage container; geometrically aligning another set of image data from amongst the plurality of sets of image data with the stack of aligned image data; identifying. in the another set of image data, a feature corresponding to a point on the lid; and determining, based on the identified features, an estimate of the height of the lid relative to the bottom edge of the storage container.

There is provided a method of monitoring a dry-bulk stockpile, the method comprising: receiving first image data collected by a satellite in orbit around the Earth. The first image data corresponds to a synthetic aperture radar image of a first area that includes the dry-bulk stockpile. The method further comprises receiving second image data collected by a satellite in orbit around the Earth. The second image data corresponds to a synthetic aperture radar image of a second area that includes the dry-bulk stockpile. The method further comprises determining whether the first and second image data were collected by one or two satellites on different orbits around the Earth or by one or two satellites on the same orbit around the Earth. If the first and second image data were collected by two satellites on different orbits, the method further comprises applying radargrammetric analysis to the first and second image data to determine one or more properties of the dry-bulk stockpile based on the radargrammetric analysis. If the first and second image data were collected by one or two satellites on the same orbit around the Earth, the method further comprises applying interferometric analysis to the first and second image data to determine one or more properties of the dry-bulk stockpile.
