The route configuration method comprises: a session management network element obtaining VLAN information of a first port, the first port being a port corresponding to a PDU session established with a first terminal on a first user plane network element, the first user plane network element being a user plane network element providing services for the first terminal; the session management network element generates first routing information and second routing information according to the VLAN information of the first port, the first routing information is used for the first user plane network element to process a first message, the first message is an uplink message of a first terminal received from the first port, and the second routing information is used for the first user plane network element to process a second message, the second message is a downlink message to be sent to the first terminal from the first port; and then, the session management network element sends the first routing information and the second routing information to the first user plane network element.
