An electrode assembly capable of maximizing the capacity per unit area of a positive electrode relative to a negative electrode, while effectively achieving an N/P ratio exceeding 1 in the entire region is provided. In an electrode assembly, each of the negative and positive electrodes has a first end portion and a second end portion that include a tab portion. The active material layer of the negative electrode includes a slitting portion and a sliding portion. The slitting portion is disposed on the first or second end portion of the negative electrode, and the sliding portion is disposed on the other of the first and second end portions of the negative electrode, wherein a ratio of I/Iis in a range of 0.5 to 10. A method of manufacturing the electrode assembly is also provided.
