The method comprises the following steps: acquiring cached videos of a plurality of monitoring point locations in a monitoring area, and determining at least one interested fragment in the cached videos of the plurality of monitoring point locations so as to screen the at least one interested fragment and generate an event video of a target object; each video frame in the segment of interest has a target object, and the event video is used for recording a whole process event of the target object in the monitoring area from appearance to disappearance; the screening processing comprises the steps of carrying out picture quality sorting on the video frames at the same acquisition moment according to picture parameters of the video frames at the same acquisition moment in the interested fragment, and carrying out screening according to a picture quality sorting result; the picture parameter is a picture display parameter related to the target object in the video frame. According to the method, the event video for displaying the event concerned by the user is obtained from massive videos, and the effectiveness and simplification of the event video are improved.
