We randomly sampled 500 patents for comprehensive data analysis covering IPC technology classification, applicant profiles, regional distribution, quality metrics, and more, providing data-driven insights for enterprise technology strategy and patent portfolio planning.

Trend 1: Software/AI Patents Dominate — G06 Exceeds 32%

Among all sampled patents, IPC Section G (Physics, including computing, measurement, optics) accounts for 32%, with the G06 series (computer/digital data processing) accumulating 599 IPC citations — far outpacing all other subclasses. G06N (AI/machine learning) alone has 142 citations, G06V (image/video recognition) 81, and G06Q (business information systems) 67. Combined with Section H (Electricity) at 21.8%, G+H accounts for 53.8% — more than half of Chinese invention patent applications belong to the ICT sector. In the AI sub-segment, large language models, attention mechanisms, knowledge graphs, and reinforcement learning are the hottest technical directions, spanning industrial control, content management, cybersecurity, and autonomous driving. Geographically, Guangdong (12.4%), Beijing (11.6%), and Jiangsu (10.8%) — the three leading provinces — together command 45.4% of all filings. Shenzhen and Guangzhou each have 22 applications, tied for first among cities, with Nanjing's 20 close behind. This fragmented landscape means SMEs and universities are the core patent service customers — they need efficient, affordable AI-assisted tools more than large corporations do.

Trends 3-5: 10-Claim Standard, New Energy Growth, Early Publication Mainstream

On claim counts, 82.6% of patents use 6-10 claims with a median of exactly 10 — this has become the 'standard configuration' for Chinese invention patents. Average inventor team size is 4.9 people, with over 87% being collaborative efforts. In the new energy sector, batteries (13), photovoltaic (4), and energy storage (4) appear frequently, with Jiangsu Province showing clear cluster effects in solar and battery supply chains. Semiconductor patents total 16, covering chip design, wafer fabrication, lithography, and packaging — reflecting China's sustained push for semiconductor self-sufficiency. On the time dimension, 90% of patents were filed in 2025, with a median filing-to-publication delay of just 84 days (~2.8 months), far shorter than the statutory 18-month automatic publication period. This indicates most applicants chose early publication to accelerate examination. For patent drafting, these data points provide clear parameters: titles averaging 20 characters, 62% starting with '一种' (a type of...), approximately 10 claims, and about 14 drawings for G-class patents.
