纺纱机具备控制部、支承部、摆动部、卡合部和检测部。支承部支承驱动罗拉。在摆动部安装有从动罗拉，摆动部在纤维束的行进方向上在比最上游侧的罗拉对靠上游的位置相对于支承部能够摆动地安装，通过相对于支承部摆动，使从动罗拉相对于驱动罗拉接近及分离。卡合部切换将支承部与摆动部卡合的卡合状态和该卡合被解除的解除状态。检测部在纤维束的行进方向上配置在比最下游侧的罗拉对的轴位置靠下游的位置，使用伴随着摆动部的摆动而产生的该摆动部与支承部的相对距离的变化来检测卡合部是卡合状态还是解除状态。
