This application provides an operating system upgrade method, a device, and a storage medium. The method may be applied to a wireless communication device such as a mobile phone or a tablet computer. By implementing the method provided in this application, an electronic device can migrate other sub-partitions after available storage space forward after all operating system upgrade data is written, thereby avoiding scattered distribution of the available storage space. After migration of all sub-partitions of the dynamic partition is completed, the electronic device can reduce the size of the dynamic partition and increase the size of a user data partition. When the storage space requirement of the dynamic partition decreases, the device can allocate storage space originally for the dynamic partition to the user data partition, enhancing the user data storage capability and improving user experience.
