Disclosed is an adaptive illumination system including a plurality of light sources, a sensing module, and a controller. The light sources are configured to emit a plurality of illumination beams. The sensing module is configured to sense environmental information. The controller is electrically connected to the light sources and sensing module. The controller controls a brightness of each light source by a dimming function according to changes in the environmental information. The dimming function is a nonlinear function.
